Today we are exploring another river, the Pacaya.
Just at the mouth of the river we had a great experience…we saw grey dolphins playing in the river. How amazing.
There were a lot of local fishermen fishing along the river.
We often had to slow down and pull up the motor as some of the fishermen had strung gill nets across the river in order to catch fish. The buoys on the gill nets were usually plastic water bottles.
We saw a number of weaver nests in one of the large trees right beside the river.
And again, there were lots of birds, including…
Black-Collared Hawk,
Capped Heron,
Horned screamer (note the long, white, skinny protrusion from the middle of the forehead),
Neo-Tropical Cormorants,
Cocoi Heron,
Dusky-Headed Parakeets
Yellow-Headed Caracara
Oriole Blackbirds,
some Blue and Yellow Macaws,
and tons and tons of Great White Egrets.

Farther up the river we stopped at a ranger station for a
bathroom break. While there we saw pink
dolphins…very hard to get a photo.
Further up the river we stopped at a “lake”, a wide section of the river, where most of the guests went swimming. We opted to just hang out the in the boats and enjoy the scenery.
Then it was back to the Delfin sitting quietly in the river waiting for all of us to return.
Later that evening we had a lovely sunset.
